Supporting the Shop
Start-up Funding

We are indebted to the generosity of our shareholders, donors, grant and loan providers who have made our start-up a reality.

Sources of start-up funding are:

Shareholders
Shareholders pay £10 per individual share. Nobody can hold more than one share and one share gives one vote. Shareholders receive no dividends but may benefit from occasional vouchers. Shareholders do not have to live in the village to care about the shop. Shareholders always have a stake. There are now 237 shareholders. If you would like to become a shareholder, please complete a share application form and return to Michele Lomas, The Avebury Community Shop Ltd., Hope Cottage, High Street, Avebury, Marlborough SN8 1RF.

Volunteers
Volunteers are the life blood of the shop, without them we would be obliged to reduce our opening hours which would reduce our income and our ability to pay a part-time manager. Helping in the shop is really appreciated by customers and our community. There are all sorts of little things that you can do to help with our recycling, our deliveries, our collections of supplies, keeping our garden tidy and so on. If you think you would like to volunteer just call Jenny on 01672 539044.
